Dr. Bernick graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School (9T2) and completed a rotating internship at the Toronto East General Hospital. He entered the Gallie Residency Training Program in General Surgery at the University of Toronto where he graduated in 1998. He completed a one-year clinical research fellowship in colorectal surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and completed a clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, and has been Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Bernick joined our surgical staff in 2000. Dr. Bernick is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at The University of Toronto. He is a past Division Head, General Surgery, and past Medical Director, Surgical Education at the Michael Garron Hospital. Dr. Bernick is the Medical Director of the Provis Rudd Clinic, a prominent outpatient colorectal endoscopy clinic in Toronto. Dr. Bernick’s interests and expertise include surgical education, complex proctology and colorectal surgery, and colonoscopy.
