Dr. Gasser graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School (1985) and completed a straight medical internship at the Toronto General Hospital. This was followed by one additional year at the Toronto General Hospital as a resident in medicine. He then completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Gasser joined the Department of Ophthalmology at the Toronto East General Hospital in 1991 and is a past Chief of the Department (1997-2003). He is presently on active staff at the Michael Garron Hospital and is a lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto.
