Surgery Preparation Resources for <18 years
Paediatric surgeries take place in the hospital’s main operating rooms. Children receive pre-operative and post-operative care from the paediatric team on G7. Surgical services include general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, plastic surgery, gynaecology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and dentistry. When additional specialized care is needed, we work closely with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) to arrange consultations.
Children scheduled for surgery at Michael Garron Hospital receive a virtual appointment by phone with the Paediatric Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic.
The appointment takes place two to five days before surgery. During the call, the care team explains how to prepare, reviews instructions for the day of surgery and answers questions from parents and caregivers.
