The Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) Surgical Centre at 20 Wynford Drive is an extension of Michael Garron Hospital, expanding our capacity to deliver high-quality surgical care to the people of East Toronto at a convenient location close to home. The TEHN Surgical Centre is a 6000 sq ft. surgical facility with three procedure rooms designed for low acuity day surgeries, and shares its medical building with a pharmacy, a primary care team and physician offices.
The TEHN Surgical Centre’s scope of operations includes minor ophthalmology and gynaecology procedures, such as cataract operations and hysteroscopies. Having minor procedures in a dedicated environment such as the TEHN Surgical Centre allows for a smooth and seamless experience for staff and patients completing these day surgeries, while retaining Michael Garron Hospital’s operating room capacity for more complex operations that require a hospital environment.
Care provided within the Surgical Centre is covered by OHIP. The exception to this is if you elect to purchased a specialized interocular lens as part of your cataracts procedure. In that case, the lens would need to be paid for in advance of your surgery. Payment can be made at the Surgical Centre via debit or credit card payment (no cash or cheque), or online via Michael Garron Hospital's payment portal.
To access care at the TEHN Surgical Centre, you must be referred for surgery by our Ophthalmology or Gynaecology Teams. The TEHN Surgical Centre is located at 20 Wynford Drive and has a parking lot (charge of $3 per half hour, with a daily maximum charge of $6). Parking is limited and not guaranteed.
20 Wynford Drive is an accessible building. The north entrance (facing the parking lot) is wheelchair-accessible, and the main lobby elevator will take patients to the second floor, where the TEHN Surgical Centre is located.
