MGH’s Christie Lockhart named Associate Director of Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (CQuIPS)

Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) is proud to announce that Christie Lockhart, Medical Director of Quality, Innovation and Research; Chief, Department of Midwifery and Co-Program Medical Director of Maternal Newborn & Child Health Services, has been named as the Associate Director of the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (CQuIPS).

CQuIPS was established in 2009 as a partnership between the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine and two of its major teaching hospitals, the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Designated as an extra-departmental unit (EDU) of the University of Toronto, CQuIPS is a multidisciplinary hub for advancing research, education and collaboration in quality improvement and patient safety that spans traditional disciplines.

In 2020, CQuIPS expanded to welcome a third partner, Women’s College Hospital. In 2025, Michael Garron Hospital joined as the fourth official partner, with Christie being named as Interim Associate Director and the MGH Site Lead – a title she will continue to hold. This expanded partnership model provided the Centre with the necessary resources to continue its journey towards sustained growth and create new opportunities for it to serve as a valued health system partner and global leader in QIPS.

CQuIPS recently spoke with Christie about the perspective she brings to the Centre, what MGH can contribute to the broader QIPS community, and where she sees opportunities to advance the field. Read the full interview on the CQuIPS website here.

Congratulations, Christie!
