Dr. Celia Atkinson is the Interim Chief of Paediatrics and Medical Co-Director of Maternal, Newborn, and Child at Michael Garron Hospital. She is a paediatrician in the Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics at Sick Kids Hospital and a Lecturer at the University of Toronto. Dr. Atkinson received her medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed her paediatric residency at Sick Kids Hospital. She completed a Master’s Degree (MSc) and a Doctorate (PhD) in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Atkinson has a great passion for children and their wellbeing. A wise cell biologist once said ‘almost all chronic diseases have their origins in childhood’ – this had inspired Dr. Atkinson to pursue the specialty of paediatrics. She strongly believes it is a true privilege and a great responsibility to be part of a family’s journey from infancy through adolescence during which the biggest impact on the future can be made.
