Dr. Elin Raymond is the Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Co-Medical Director of the Family Birthing Centre at Michael Garron Hospital. She continues to love working at night to help families welcome their child into the world and believes deeply in a patient-centered, trauma-informed birth culture.
Dr. Raymond developed the hospital’s policy on skin-to-skin contact at the time of cesarean section and was the recipient of the MGH Impact Council Grant advancing trauma-informed care and psychological safety across clinical teams while improving the management of obstetrical hemorrhage.
A Royal College-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Raymond completed her residency and fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Toronto, following medical school at Dalhousie University. She has a particular interest in fertility and minimally invasive fertility-enhancing surgery.
Dr. Raymond believes strongly in midwifery–obstetric collaboration and has served on the Quality Improvement Committee at the Toronto Birth Centre, working to strengthen partnerships and develop innovative collaborative models at MGH. She is an Associate Professor at both Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto, where she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring midwifery, medical, and resident learners.
