Paediatric Preoperative Assessment Clinic

The Preoperative Assessment Clinic at Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) helps paediatric patients and their parents prepare for surgical care at Michael Garron Hospital. The program is offered to children three years of age and older.

By attending the Clinic, paediatric patients and their parents will feel more comfortable with the hospital environment, be prepared for surgery and have a more positive hospital experience.

Appointments include:

  • Tours of the Paediatric Inpatient Service, Operating Room, Recovery Room and Short-Stay Unit
  • Hands on teaching with stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs and weight scales and the opportunity to dress up in hospital hats and masks
  • A puppet demonstration of an intravenous, oxygen mask and anaesthetic facemasks

All appointments are scheduled through the referring surgeon.
