Convey mobile app

Starting September 2025, patients who have an appointment at select clinics at Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) can register or check in using an online app on their cellphone. The online app, Convey, allows patients to manage their appointments and self-register online. This app is available in addition to our self-register kiosks or standard in-person registration process in our Ange & Adrian Rocca Patient Registration Department.

To register for the app, you must provide your cell phone number or email address and consent to receive text or email messages when you scheduled your appointment at MGH.

The Convey app allows you to:

  • View your appointments online
  • Update and verify your information online before you arrive at the hospital
  • Register for your appointment from your cellphone
  • Receive directions to the clinic

You cannot self-register through the Convey app, if you:

  • Have an invalid Ontario health card  
  • Arrive late for your appointment
  • Are scheduled for cataract eye surgery
  • Are staying overnight at the hospital
  • Need to update your family doctor
  • Are receiving treatment due to a work-related injury (WSIB claim)

Patients may not be able to self-register for other reasons (e.g. to update their family doctor), and they may need to see a registration clerk in-person to update their information in our system. Patients will receive a message that the check-in was unsuccessful and they will be asked to go to the Patient Registration Department to complete their registration process. 

How to use the convey mobile app

  1. You will receive a text or email message four days before your appointment. At the bottom of the reminder message, you will see a link.  Click on the link to open the Convey app. Please keep your appointment message on your cellphone or email inbox so that you can access it on the day of your appointment to check in online.
  2. Once you open the app, wait a few seconds to receive a text message with your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code. Enter the six-digit code in the app and you will be able to view your appointments.
  3. Locate your appointment on the app.
  4. Click on the “CONFIRM” button to begin the pre-registration process for your appointment. You can pre-register and update your contact information at least 24 hours before you arrive to the hospital.
  5. Answer the screening questions and review your contact information on each screen.
  6. Before you arrive to the hospital, click on the “CLINIC INFO” button to view registration/check-in instructions.
  7. When you arrive to the hospital, go to the Patient Registration Department and locate the self-register QR code sign.
  8. Go to your reminder message and click on the link again to open the Convey app.
  9. Locate your appointment and click on the “QR CODE CHECK-IN” button and scan the QR code on the sign to check-in for your appointment.
  10. Click on the “DIRECTIONS” button and follow the way-finding directions to the clinic where your appointment is scheduled.   
  11. Once you arrive at the clinic, please go to the reception desk to check-in with the clinic staff. If required, you will be provided with a wristband.

Opening the link through your email message

Locate the Convey link at the bottom of your appointment reminder. Press and hold the link to open a pop-up window, then select ‘Open in Browser.’ The Convey app will open and you will receive an MFA code message via email. Return to your email inbox, copy the MFA code and paste it into the code field in the Convey app.

Please contact your clinic’s booking staff if you have questions about your appointment. You can find the booking staff’s phone number in your appointment reminder messages.  You can also send rescheduling or cancellation requests through the Convey app.
