Overview

Provides quality laboratory testing in the Chemistry lab by observing the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency and safety according to established procedures and policies (IQMH Standards). Ensures that the MLT's and Lab Technicians in the Core Lab a rea of Lab Medicine adhere to the above standards. Maintains open lines of communication with the Manager of Lab Medicine, staff in other lab areas and nursing areas. Maintains and updates procedure manuals and teaching/training material.

Education

- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program
- Current active registration with CMLTO is required
- Advanced certification with the CSMLS in Chemistry or equivalent preferred

Qualifications

- Minimum five years clinical experience in Chemistry, preferred, with demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge in problem solving and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated working knowledge in Hematology and Blood Bank preferred
- Ability t o communicate and function under pressure
- Good punctuality, work ethic and attendance record is required
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrate interest in continuing personal and professional growth.
- Mature responsible judgment.
- Ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize.
- Self motivated with the ability to guide and motivate staff
- Ability to lead work well in cooperation with co-workers and other departments.
- Flexibility and willingness to w ork as part of team.
