Overview

Reporting to the Senior Communications Specialist, Corporate Communications, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the MGH Corporation Communications team; the Communications Committee for East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP), the Ontari o Health Team (OHT) serving East Toronto; and stakeholders across the hospital and OHT to gain valuable on-the-job experience, skills development and mentorship in a supportive and inclusive work environment. The MGH and ETHP Communications teams are loo king for an enthusiastic self-starter and team player with a passion for content creation and storytelling.

The Corporate Communications Intern will be required to work remotely and on-site at the hospital as needed. MGH has robust screening and phys ical distancing practices in place for all employees to ensure a safe and healthy work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Primary Responsibilities:

Content Creation: Writing/Interviewing/Storytelling
- Increase awareness of MGH’s healt hcare services,community programs, partnerships, research and people by contributing to MGH’s digital newsroom
- Pitch, research, write and interview subject matter experts for stories on the MGH website, blog, social media channels, internalnewsletter and community/trade publications
- Use a variety of multimedia platforms to distribute and leverage content, including: video, photography and new media platforms

Media relations
- Act as the first point of contact to respond to mediainquiries

- Work with media to coordinate interviews in a timely manner
- Connect with spokespeople on requests and support with key messages, briefing notes and media interview preparations
- Support communications team with proactive media relations and pi tching stories
- Update and track all MGH media requests to support with quarterly and annual media reporting

Digital communications: Website, intranet and social media
- Assist with digital communications efforts for public website, employee intr anet and social media
- Assist internal stakeholders with content requests for the website and intranet; provide training to new and existing users
- Support the communications team with writing, editing and updating website and intranet content
- Help monitor and coordinate social media posts and requests

Internal Communications
- Assist with communications planning, implementation and support on the roll-out of hospital-wide campaigns and initiatives
- Support the communications team wi th internal presentations, briefing notes, graphics and other materials as assigned

Assist with community relations and special projects
- Support with special projects and perform other assignments as required
- Support with community partnershi ps projects, suchas collaborative communications work with East Toronto Health Partners, the Ontario Health Team serving East Toronto
- Support and assist communications team during emergency or crisis situations

Education

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.

- Maintains professionalism a nd represents the hospital and OHT with diplomacy
- Knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset
- Basic knowledge of video filming and editing considered an asset
