BMD testing measures bone loss due to osteoporosis and helps our teams determine the risk of future fractures, the need for medical treatment and monitor the success of existing treatment.

BMD tests may require the removal of your clothes and changing into a gown, as items on your clothing or undergarments may interfere with the imaging (for example: buttons, clips, zippers etc.). You must not have any exams involving barium or radioisotopes within the last month.
There are no specific preparation instructions for Bone Mineral Density. Please bring a list of the medications you are taking to the exam.
