Greater Toronto Top Employer 2026 and Canada's Most Admired Corporate Culture 2025

Michael Garron Hospital is proud to be named as a Greater Toronto Top Employer and one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures

Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) is proud to be recognized as a Greater Toronto Top Employer for the tenth consecutive year!

Winners represent leaders in their industry who offer exceptional places to work. Organizations are evaluated on a range of factors including health and financial benefits, training and development and employee engagement.

MGH was also awarded the 2025 Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture Award! As an award recipient since 2016, this year’s award places us in the Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture Hall of Fame.

Investing in our people

MGH nurtures a culture of learning and excellence with the availability of a staff education fund, bursaries, awards, fellowships and a leadership development program.

This year, MGH launched new wellness initiatives and continues to build resources for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB), encouraging all employees to take part.

“As a hospital, providing care is everything. It extends beyond our patients to include all of our teams,” says Melanie Kohn, President and CEO of MGH. “Investing in the well-being of our people – physical, mental and emotional – is vital to what makes Michael Garron Hospital an outstanding workplace where everyone can grow and achieve their greatest potential.”

Ongoing employee engagement at all levels

Staff have many opportunities to provide feedback on their experience working at MGH.

Thousands of staff participated in this year’s Engagement Survey and Workforce Census. Responses will be used to celebrate successes and identify areas where changes can be made.

Stay interviews are conducted regularly to gather one-on-one feedback between employees and managers.

In addition, peers and direct reports can provide anonymous feedback to leaders as part of a 360-degree assessment.

“We consider our people our greatest strength – they make up a culture of compassion, respect, integrity, inclusion and courage. That is why we place great importance on ensuring their voices are heard at every level,” says Phillip Kotanidis, Vice President, People and Chief Human Resources Officer at MGH.
