Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible and accountable to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice for the provision of quality care, assessment, treatment, education and counselling to patients with swallowing and communication impairments as est ablished by the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and the standards of speech language pathology care of the hospital. This role primarily supports with the Child Development Centre, the Neonatal Follow Up Clin ic at Michael Garron Hospital and the outpatient treatment centre located at our Thorncliffe Park Community HUB. Staff may be assigned to work within other areas of the organization that are currently served by Interprofessional Practice.

Education

- Masters' Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Qualifications

- Two years of clinical experience working with children with special needs preferred;
- Experience with providing assessment, consultation and therapy for pediatric clients preferred;
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology;
- Previous exp erience in screening, assessing and treating clients with diagnosed and suspected ASD is an asset;
- Previous experience with administering and interpreting RITA-T and ADOS-2 is an asset;
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Lan guage Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO);
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team setting;
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families and members of the interdisciplinary care team;
- Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team;
- Ability to share new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals within the organization, professional body and community
- Ability to utilize the teaching/learning process to provide education, both formal and informal, to clients/families, colleagues, students, and other professionals within the organization and the community
- Motivation to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service.
