The Activation Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating meaningful activation programs that meet the Complex Continuing Care & Rehab patients’ intellectual, physical, mental and spiritual needs. The Activity Co ordinator upholds the values of Compassion, Accountability, Integrity and Courage demonstrated in effective collegial relationships and inter-departmental partnerships; by ensuring a safe and comfortable environment; and by demonstrating courtesy in ever y interaction.
- Certificate or diploma in recreation/activation required.
- Additional certificate in gerontology an asset.
- Current BLS required.
- 1 to 2 years of recent experience in recreation/activation coordination preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
- Familiarity with community resources an asset.
- Computer literacy required; demonstrated knowledge of Microso ft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with standards set out in Long-Term Care Home Act.
- Ability to articulate and demonstrate resident safety strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to be creative, pro-active, work independently as well as be an effective team member.
- Ability to empathize with patients and their families while demonstrating a high degree of patience, tolerance and confidentiality.
- Understanding of patients with cognitive impairment.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, atten tion to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Good work and attendance record required.
