Otolaryngology (Head and Neck)

Michael Garron Hospital's (MGH) Department of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery), provides medical and surgical services relating to disease of  the ear, nose, sinuses, throat, neck and face.

Members of our department are recipients of national and University of Toronto teaching awards and have had major roles in otolaryngology undergraduate and postgraduate education. We also have a significant interest in healthcare services research and quality improvement. 

Our team of surgeons have completed advanced training at Harvard University, Brown University, Tulane University, Ohio State University and the University of Toronto. Members of our department all hold academic appointments with the University of Toronto's Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.

Areas of Expertise

• Head and neck surgical oncology, including parotid and submandibular gland cancers
• Advanced thyroid cancers requiring neck dissection, chest surgery or airway reconstruction 
• Advanced cancers of the face and neck (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma) 
• Sentinel lymph node biopsy 
• Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the nose and face
• Surgical management of thyroid disease and cancer
• Endoscopic and image guided surgery of the paranasal sinuses and nose
• Surgical management of thyroid disease and cancer
• Surgery of the ear and mastoid
• Paediatric surgery including ear tubes and tonsil surgery
• Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery
• Endoscopic throat and voice surgery
• Snoring and sleep apnea surgery
