Overview

The Manager Nursing Resource Team provides leadership and management to the NRT and staffing office as a business unit, working in partnership with the Clinical Resource Leader and NRT Supervisor. The incumbent ensures the staff had the training and ski lls required to meet the needs of primary, secondary and tertiary areas of coverage across the enterprise. This position is responsible for creating statistics, metrics and dashboards associated with the performance of the team and the utilization of th e team across the hospital. The NRT Manager works with key stakeholders to create processes to proactively manage staffing needs across the organization. The incumbent is responsible for the recruitment, retention and recognition of clinical staff (RN, RPN, PSW) and staffing office clerks/coordinators, with the planned transition of the latter to a separate leadership team. The Manager will optimize opportunities to be exposed to different areas of practice to enable programs to hire from within and t o ensure succession planning for the clinical workforce. The incumbent is responsible for the management of specialty programs such as the clinical extern program, internationally educated RN bridging program and the new graduate guarantee. This leader will partner with other key leaders to advance the vision of optimizing master schedules, proactive scheduling practices, proactive recruitment strategies and staffing office and NRT program expansion. The manager promotes MGH vision and values within the team, models the way and has a key role in maintaining staff engagement, wellness and joy at work. This role also has after-hours on-call responsibilities.

Education

- Baccalaureate Degree
- Master’s Degree or evidence in working toward preferred
- Registered health professional in good standing with a professional regulatory body. Registered Nurse preferred.
- Certification in quality improvement methodologi es (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma) an asset

Qualifications

- Minimum of five (5) years’ related experience with two (2) years in a progressive leadership or practice leadership role required with demonstrated acumen in working with labour and employee relations in a highly unionized environment
- Experience l eading float pools preferred
- Demonstrated strength in communication, change management, fiscal management, inclusivity, innovation and followership in leading a large multi-professional team required
- Demonstrated acumen in leading large diverse t eams an asset
- Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical analytics methods and software (e.g. Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft Access, SAS) an asset.
- Knowledge of or ganizational culture and functions
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and troubleshoot with critical and creative thinking ability.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interprofessional team environment.
- Flexible, organized, a nd self-directed within scope of responsibility; has initiative and independent judgment
- Knowledge of scheduling and staffing principles.
- Knowledge of ANSOS and Total Care an asset.
- Must have experience in Program Planning & Implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to forecast, plan and monitor the operating and capital equipment budget for areas of responsibility
