Overview

In spring 2018, Michael Garron Hospital began its campus wide redevelopment project in partnership with Ellis Don Infrastructure Healthcare, the Ministry of Health and Long term Care (MOHLTC), and Infrastructure Ontario (IO).

This transformational pr oject will be the largest construction project in the history of Michael Garron Hospital; a project that will forever change the organization and the care it provides to the community.

The Project Manager, Training & Orientation will support Operation al Readiness work by managing the general hospital training and orientation portion of the overall project and identifying, defining, organizing, and implementing all staff training and orientation deliverables required for the activation and occupation of the new facility.

This position will be reporting to both the Manager, Organizational Development and Director, Operational Readiness and Clinical Planning. The Project Manager will work closely with the Operational Readiness Project Managers as we ll as the Operational Readiness Leaders (ORL) in collaboration with internal leadership (Clinical Resource Leaders and Supervisors) to plan, develop, schedule, and implement the training and orientation requirements to occupy the New Patient Care Centre, as well as the creation of the ongoing corporate training and orientation for new hires going forward.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience in Education or similar Certification in Adult Education would be an asset
- PMP certification or equivalent would be an asset

Qualifications

- 5 years related clinical or operational experience preferred or equivalent, relevant experience
- Experience in a project management role, ideally supporting the scheduling and delivery of training and orientation programs in clinical or non-clinica l settings
- Demonstrated experience in scheduling, change management, adult learning principles, reporting, document management and facilitation
- The ability to inspire staff to get excited to learn and maintain engagement through a well-planned an d expertly delivered training and orientation program
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning and redevelopment processes from a patient-centered perspective
- Experience with Capital Redevelopment projects an asset
- Experience developing instructi onal and procedural documentation and presentations
- Experience facilitating workshops and focus groups
- Proactive approach with a proven ability to achieve results and advance work plans
- Working knowledge of, and experience with, quality impr ovement principles and tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships, engage physicians, staff and volunteers, promot e collaboration and reach consensus decision making
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with the patient care process from a holistic systems perspective, complemented by a strong interes t in transformative initiatives
- Process improvement and customer service oriented
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Demonstrated expertise in software tools such as MS Office, including Excel and Project ; proficient in the use of project management tools such as Gantt charts, A3s, project charters
- Proven good attendance record
- Demonstrated understanding of contribution to patient and staff safety
- Demonstrated behaviors consistent with the v alues of MGH
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Have additional education and/or experience in adult learning, change management and training developm ent/delivery
- Have a strong computer/technology skills with extensive experience working a variety of equipment and applications
- Have demonstrated the ability to support, inspire, coach and manage staff through change, with experience in managingc onflict, achieving buy-in and collaborating for successful outcomes
- Other tasks as deemed necessary and relevant to the role
