Overview

Reporting to the Manager/Chief Operating Engineer/Assistant Chief Operating Engineer of Plant Operations the Supervisor is an integral team member charged with the core mandate to maintain a safe, healthy, and efficient physical plant. This mandate is ac hieved by using knowledge of hospital base building systems, processes, and infrastructure to effectively oversee complex and dynamic plant operations. The application of critical, analytical, and rapid decision making will be vital in achieving success. The Supervisor will interact directly with internal and external stakeholders while leading a team of Operating Engineers, tradespersons, contractors, and/or consultants. Exemplary customer service skills coupled with technical knowledge will be essenti al.

Education

- Completed post-secondary education, preferably in Architecture, Construction Technology, Building Science, or Engineering required.
- Certificate in Project Management, Construction Project Management, Engineering or a related field required (ie . Management Certificate, Certificate in OH&S or related).

Qualifications

- Minimum five years’ experience in plant and facilities operations leadership within a healthcare setting
- Preferred Operating Engineer 3rd Class with CFQ in Industrial Millwright and (BES)
- Project management experience considered and asset
- Excellent customer service skills both written and in person
- Flexibility to work varying hours as required for planned system outages and emergency response
- The ability to work across main campus and satellites sites as necessary based on de mand and operations
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
